Six Killer Tips for Blogging Success!

We’ve all been there, you’ve put time and effort into writing a blog, you published it on your website and then nothing happens.

No more traffic, nobody reads the blog, nobody’s commenting on any of the social media shares and it’s super disheartening. Especially when you hear how important blogging is for your business. And it is.

You’ve just got to know these six tips and you’ll be knocking those blogs out of the park!

The clue’s in the title

First up is a search friendly title. Your title needs to draw people in whilst being something people will actually type into Google and search for.

For example, if you’re a car dealership, and you’re offering tips on how to get rid of the scratches on your car, you might title the blog, ‘The Best Way to Get Rid of Scratches on Your Car’.

Now that sounds simple, but if you try to complicate it anymore than that, chances are people searching for it won’t find it. The best move, is to think of a simple, catchy way to get your point across for your title, just like the one that brought you here. *cough cough*

Use your blogging power for good, not evil

When writing a blog, always think, what problem are you solving? There’s no point writing a blog if nobody’s going to be interested. What value is it going to bring to the reader? Why should they read it?

In the case of the scratched car, the value behind that is anybody who’s got a scratch on their car wants tips and advice on how to get rid of it. Voila! You’re already solving a problem for them.

If you’re a baker and you’re telling people where the best place to source flour is, you’re solving the problem for people who want flour. It’s as simple as that.

Give your reader an easy time

Life is complicated enough. Make your blog as easy to digest as possible with short, easy to read sentences.

Think like James Patterson. His novels are really easy to consume because most of his sentences are under 10 words.

Think like that with your blog. Check the readability of it. Make sure it’s all broken down with short sentences, short paragraphs and bullet points. Anything that makes it easy to digest.

Sharing is caring

Make sure your blog is shareable. If people can’t share the link, if they can’t push it to their social media, you’re missing a trick.

It’s really easy to get people to share it and do the work for you.

A picture is worth a thousand words

It’s important you’ve got images in your blog and don’t use stock photography.

Use images that relate to what you’re talking about, that fit with your business and your values, and make sure they’re placed at intervals that break up the text and make it easy to read and digest.

Use links throughout

Using links in your blog not only gives you brownie points with search engines, they also provide a better experience for the reader, making it easier to access more information.

You could link to another part of your website that provides more information. Or, link to an external website that provides extra detail or link to your social media where people can see more about your business and interact with you.
