To Video or Not to Video

Today’s post is all about video content.

When to do it and when not to do it.

Video content is amazing and probably one of the best forms of marketing you can do, apart from paid-for Facebook ads.

With 62% of people admitting they are more confident buying a product or service when they’re watching a video about it, surely we should start filming right away, right?

Lights, camera…*runs off screaming*

Whilst statistics about how great video marketing is are all well and good, they add further pressure to what is already quite a daunting idea. Let’s face it, talking to a camera about your subject knowledge is not an everyday thing. It can really take you out of your comfort zone.

Getting out of your comfort zone once in a while is a good thing. We all know that. If everything is lovely and fluffy all the time, you are never going to reach your full potential.

However, you can’t be out of your comfort zone all the time.

You’ll just crack up with the pressure and there can be a lot of pressure involved in making a video.

So, if you’re not ready, you shouldn’t do it.

How to get camera ready!

The idea of video is that it’s a great medium to engage with your current and potential clients.
So it’s important to make the right impression…

Practise, practise, practise:
It’s the only way it will start to come naturally to you, which will come across really well on camera.

Ask for honest feedback:
Like seriously honest. Not “you would totally make it through on X-Factor” type honesty. Explain to people this is your business and it needs to be right. They will see things you may not and it will help you to improve.

Use bullet points:
Have a few key topics you want to cover and have them somewhere you can refer to. Whether each point is a different take, or you stick the bullet points next to the camera so you can see them. This will help you feel less flustered about remembering what to say.

If bullet points aren’t working, invest in an auto queue. We picked one up for £70 so they are more affordable than you think!
You can then write your script word for word and read from it. Just do your best to appear natural and make sure the flow is there.
However, if you find that no matter what you do, video still isn’t working for you or isn’t getting the results or engagement you want, then speak to us.
