Three Ways to Be a Strategic Attention Seeker Online
Digital Strategy has to be just that. Strategic.
You want more people visiting your website, sure, but everyone – from the biggest businesses to that random guy next door – wants the exact same thing. There’s more competition than ever, so don’t race ahead of yourself.
First thing’s first, ask yourself this: why do you want people’s attention?
You need to get clear on this because if you don’t have a clear goal in mind, why on earth would visitors know what they should be doing when they reach your site? You’re wasting your efforts, not getting the most out of site users and losing out on potential clients and customers.
A clear user journey is crucial. It’s not just about getting attention, it’s about maintaining it. Only that way can you maximise the amount of visitors who make a purchase, sign up to your marketing or enquire about a service.
Easier said than done, I know… which is why I’ve put together my three top tips on how to go from an attention-seeker to an attention-getter online.
1) Get to know yourself
You need to be clear about what you are offering to your potential visitors. These days clicks are a precious currency… so what immediate value are you offering your audience for their attention?
Whether that’s a sale, an offer, a fantastic blog or expert advice, you have to make them think they’d be losing out if they didn’t visit your page. Then you’ll be getting attention for all the right reasons.
2) Get to know Facebook
Okay, so this one is a no-brainer, but pay attention. If you want more website traffic, you should be spending money on Facebook ads.
These drive people from Facebook and its partner Audience Network to a specific page, product or blog on your website.
Even better, you can describe your perfect customer and only target people who fall into that ideal target audience, meaning you’ll be getting attention from all the right people.
3) Reacquaint yourself with old friends
Retargeting is another great and effective strategy.
Trying to get attention from people who have never interacted with your brand before can take time, so why not retarget those who have already visited your site? This will ensure that you make the most of every visitor.
This is also a great audience to engage for making sales/conversions/sign-ups as they are already familiar with your brand and offering. Paying them a little extra attention might make all the difference.
So, there you have it: how to be an attention seeker in a positive way (that gets results).
There’s a lot more you can do to get visitors to your website, but this is a great place to start.
