Are You Seriously Going to Post That?!

Everything we do, we talk about online. I mean, if it’s not online, did it even happen?

Sure, being so connected to the world is awesome. We should know, it’s our job.

However, having such easy access to everyone all the time, comes with some problems.

So today, we have three top tips to make sure you are posting the right content to social media. It may sound simple, but so many people are getting it so wrong…

So, what’s your point?

People value meaningful and informative content. Think about how many posts go on Facebook a day, your posts need to provide value or they won’t be noticed.

The easiest way to provide value is making sure you understand your audience inside and out, to make sure that what you’re posting is actually valuable to them. This will build your credibility and increase engagement.

To make your posts as valuable as possible, ensure they are formatted well, look good and follow the rules of the social media platform. Your photos should be good quality, cropped to the right dimensions and any video content needs to be filmed within the right time, and the right way (portrait or landscape), depending on where they’re being posted.

Side note – Make sure that your content is optimised for mobiles as that is where the majority of your traffic will be coming from. It’s all well and good providing valuable content, but if people can’t read it, you’re back to square one.

Stop fishing

People value accurate and authentic content. So, don’t be posting any engagement bait bribing people to engage with your post. And avoid anything spammy. No one likes spam. Be that from a tin or online…

You want your engagement to happen naturally so you know what you’re posting is actually valuable. The best way to do that is by being authentic. You have a unique voice and a great business, so roll with that. It will work. Trying to trick people into engaging won’t.

Never post misleading content either. You don’t want to be the business who cried clickbait, do you?

People want the truth. They don’t want to be lied to or misled.

There are no take-backs on the internet

People value standards for safe and respectful behaviour, especially nowadays. It’s more
important than ever. Don’t post anything that could provoke bullying, harassment or serious offence.

Once something is out on the internet, it’s out there. There’s no taking it back. Think about that each time you post.

Those are the three main points when posting to social media; providing valuable, honest, respectful information and having fun with it!

We know this post may have sounded heavy, but with the power of social media, we need to make it a positive place to be.
